Applying Self Adhesive Vinyl Decals

Firmly press all along the edges to ensure that the entire air is expelled to establish good bonding. Continue the same way and pull out small areas of the backing at a time.

How To Install Self Adhesive Vinyl Tiles

Installation of self adhesive vinyl floor tile, or a peel and stick vinyl tile as it is often called, is not difficult. But you need to take care of a couple of things to facilitate the process and have a successful execution of the project.

At the outset, prepare your surface

Prior to installing new self adhesive vinyl floor tile, the surface needs to be prepared. If you have had a carpet all this while, be prepared to spend some extra time for removing the old glue from the floor and also the wooden carpet strips around the edges of the room. Make sure to spend the required time so that the floor is thoroughly prepared. In case the surface is already smooth, due concrete or old vinyl tile, you can install new floor straightaway on its top provided the surface is flat and the old flooring is firmly fixed. For the new tile floor to attach well it is imperative to thoroughly prepare your floor. It has to be flat, dry and clean to get best results.

Second, mark your floor

As an additional safety measure, roll a rolling pin across the tile. Next, keep the second piece of tile firmly against the first one and keep laying more tiles till all the pieces are laid. Watch the line at the seams of the tile while going along for added guidance.

Fourth, Cut and Place the Edge Tiles

Cutting the edge tiles may require a bit of practice but soon you’ll get used to it and your work will have perfect looks as if executed by a professional. The most important feature of this exercise is to ensure that while cutting the smaller pieces that should fit securely between the wall and the entire lot of tiles that have already been laid, you have to cut them in such a manner that the uncut side of the tile fits perfectly against the tile already laid on the floor. This is how you can do this. Taking one piece of tile at a time, turn it upside down and use the same to measure from the wall to the piece of tile that it needs to match with. Cut the tile to measured size before removing the backing. Turn the tile over so that its right side is up and the uncut edge lines up against the edge of the whole tile already fixed on the floor. As you keep fixing the tiles in the room, you should take each piece of tile and cut it individually so that it slips into the available place. In case you are required to cut more than one side of a particular tile, you should try keeping the uncut edges of the tile to be the visible sides, whereas the sides that are cut should be against the corners and the wall of the room.
